For the equilibrium described by:

2 HgO (s)  2 Hg (l) + O2 (g)  [KP = 12.0 atm at 850 K]


1) Find the relation between KP and KC.

2) Find the value of KC at this temperature.

1) KP = PO2 and KC = [O2]

⇒ KP = KC RT

 

2) KC = KPRT 

with KP in Pa ⇒ 12.0 atm = 12.2 x 106 Pa

R = 8.314 J.mol-1.K-1
