General Chemistry 2 - Chemical reactions

Solid sodium nitride decomposes to form solid sodium metal and nitrogen gas. Give the chemical equation of this reaction.

Solid sodium nitride = Na3N (s)

Solid sodium metal = Na (s)

Nitrogen gas = Diatomic molecule = N2 (g)

Na3N (s) → Na (s) + N2 (g) (unbalanced)

And after balancing the chemical equation:

2 Na3N (s) → 6 Na (s) + N2 (g)
