Exercise 5 | Liquids and Solids
General Chemistry 2 - Exercise 5
The melting point of H2O(s) is 0°C.
Would you expect the melting point of H2S(s) to be less than, greater than or equal to 0°C? Explain.
Lower than 0°C (-85°C to be exact).
The extensive hydrogen bonding in H2O holds the water molecules into a crystal lattice, but there is little hydrogen bonding in H2S.
